Songs & Lyrics

Despite playing music for several decades, i never really paid much attention to lyrics. Only after realizing the amount of bullshit we are being spoon-fed day by day by polticians and the media did i actually find a "voice". A lot of the songs deal with the subject matter of being decieved and not seeing the world for what it really is, others such as the "One-legged Woman" and the "Paranoid Amsterdam Blues" are definitely influenced by the humour found in Britain.

Each song tells a wee story in itself.
All my songs are written in the first person narrative.. as that's the only way i can genuinely feel the lyrics. When writing a song, the chord progression is usually the first thing that sticks.. when i find some chords i like, i'll rearrange them, and start humming a melody... sometimes i'll leave something lying around only to pull it out of the bag at a later date. I never sit down and write a song from start to finish.. i allways have at least 5 or 6 songs in various stages of completion.
Once the melody is there, then i'll work out the chorus/refrain with something catchy and then work backwards to fíll up the verses with lyrics.

There are exceptions of course..such as "The truth will set you free".. that was spur-of-the-moment mood.. and it all fell into place in about 2 days
